Anime Expression is a creative group that addresses social and emotional concerns for teenagers. This group focuses on sensory integration, self-awareness, and creative expression through the medium of anime – a Japanese animation style often characterized by colorful graphics, vibrant characters, and fantastical themes. Offered by The Center for Childhood Development in collaboration with the Hudsonville Area Arts Council, the final pieces created by the group will be exhibited in a public venue to be enjoyed by the residents of the Grand Rapids surrounding area communities.
Who would benefit from this group?
Teenage boys and girls, ages 13 to 18, who may need confidence in social interactions as well as within themselves.
What are the goals?
The goals of this group are to make friends, build self-confidence, develop emotional regulation and social skills, and express oneself through a creative medium.
Tuesdays at 4pm
Session 1: June 14 – July 12 (no group session week of July 4)
Session 2: July 26 – August 23
